Reflections on what life has been like as part of Accenture.
A year ago today, Infinity Works was acquired by Accenture. It was a historic day for everyone connected with the business – both past and present. I think many could be forgiven for thinking it would signal seismic changes. Since being founded in 2014, we’ve prided ourselves on our people-focused culture, our commitment to technical excellence, and the way we engage with our clients. But could we retain the things that made Infinity Works special as our then 440-strong team became part of Accenture?
One year on and the answer is a resounding yes.
New opportunities
We built upon our experience developing the leading brands of tomorrow and started working with new and exciting businesses wanting to disrupt their industries. It’s been incredibly exciting. Our people are working on innovative projects and using the latest tech to create amazing outcomes for our clients. And through the Accenture network, we began partnering with new colleagues and teams to help established market leaders. Infinity Works’ relationships with some of the UK’s leading challenger brands perfectly complements Accenture’s deep relationships with the world’s top companies, many of which are wanting to reinvent and transform.
New opportunities haven’t just been limited to clients, though. As part of Accenture, we’re passionate about growing our footprint and supporting growth across the UK. We’ve expanded into two new cities and launched new hubs in Birmingham and Glasgow. It’s enabled us to create new opportunities for local people while helping us grow our engineering talent to better serve our clients. As we begin to emerge from the pandemic, we’re excited about visiting and supporting the local tech communities we’re part of.
People-focused approach
Throughout the last 12 months, we’ve continued to grow our teams and capabilities while investing in our people and ensuring they remain central to everything we do. Infinity Works and Accenture are both deeply committed to creating inclusive environments that enable our people to thrive and excel. Being part of Accenture has also meant new opportunities for our people, whether that’s being involved in new client engagements or even working in new countries. And it’s been a two-way learning journey, with Accenture listening to us and implementing many of our ideas.
We’ve also continued our commitment to helping upskill the digital workforce of the future. In the past year, the Infinity Works Academy has continued to grow and we’ve provided even more opportunities for people to start fulfilling careers in tech. This exceptional group of people aren’t just university graduates either. They’re career changers, they’re people returning to tech after a career break, and they’re young people facing barriers to employment, particularly those from backgrounds that are underrepresented in the tech industry. Accenture has seen the power of what we’re doing with the Academy and we are now scaling our approach to develop tech talent across the business.
An exciting future ahead
For all these reasons, I’m proud of the progress Infinity Works has made as part of Accenture. We’ve managed to retain the feel of a fast-moving scale-up business, only now with the backing of a true global leader to help us tap into greater opportunities and drive greater impact for our clients and people.
I’m very excited about the next chapter of the Infinity Works story and what the future holds. It’s a fantastic time to be working in the tech industry and together, Accenture and Infinity Works will continue to provide amazing opportunities for our people to work with amazing clients wanting to build amazing things.
